Hi there, and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Kristin Finan and I’m a travel and lifestyle writer based in Austin, Texas. I’m currently the travel editor and a features reporter at the Austin American-Statesman, and my work has also been featured in “The Houston Chronicle,” “The Dallas Morning News,” “The Denver Post,” ScaryMommy.com, Afar.com and more.
I’m also the author of several travel books including “The Cheap Bastard’s Guide to Austin,” “Quick Escapes from Houston,” “The Food Lover’s Guide to Houston” and “The Cheap Bastard’s Guide to Austin.” In addition to travel writing, I frequently cover general lifestyle features, entertainment and parenting issues, particularly issues pertaining to foster care and adoption (I am a foster and adoptive parent.) I am also the co-founder of Carrying Hope, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides Hope Packs filled with comfort items and essentials to children entering the foster care system.
